Balut

I tried Balut (a fertilized duck embryo that is boiled and eaten in the shell) for the very first time.   I told myself that it is a cooked egg to give me the courage.   I didn’t dare back in 2007 when Lian ate it.    And in 1981, we were not introduced to it.   Back in 1981, I was traveling with a tour group.

Balut - I can say I have tried :-)

 

Would I eat again?  I don't think so, thanks.

An afternoon in San Manuel, Pangasinan

This hut is such a good idea.   It is a good place to relax or sleep on a hot day or night!   Definitely not so when there are lots of mosquitoes.

Only after having stayed in this hotel for a week, my sister and I found that there is a paradise at the back of the our building.   There were rooms, at the back of our building that cost the same as what we were paying.   And there is a swimming pool as well!  We would have love to stay in these rooms because they are away from the busy noisy street.   However, these rooms have to be booked in advance.   If I ever visit Urdaneta again, I know what I should do then.

I have not been to this mountain resort city.    Thanks to Vi, Gina and her brother who took us to visit Baguio for the day.    We took the cheepney to the bus station and then took the bus to Baguio.     One day is too short to enjoy the places of interest as we had to be on the road, in the cheepney or the taxi or the bus.

I thought that was funny to name this flower as Malaysian Mums.  I didn't know that chrysanthemum is often called as mums!  I have not heard that flower being addressed as mums.   Now I know.   When I say "mum" I mean my mother.
